matters of the heart
A vaudeville show of cordiality from wonderfully kitschy to elegant and noble to make you happy
These "heart stories" came about more or less by accident. Originally it was intended to create a series with hearts in gouache. But as soon as I started to paint a heart picture, I lost interest in it. In 2012, while archiving older works on the computer, I came across an abstract heart imageheart rhythmfrom 1998. After looking  for a while, I found that there were at least eight heart shapes hidden in this image. I cut them out digitally and thought about what kind of picture stories I could create from them. And suddenly I had the term "Herzkasperl" in my head. Gradually, the terms that could be used in two senses bubbled up. I obsessively combed through all my works and created more than 50 heart stories. In contrast to the other art design works, the subtitles for these images are in German, since the interplay of word and motif should not lose the ironic background.

Popular with horse lovers, that's why I'm thinking of coffee mugs in addition to picture prints.

Herzensseele

Herzensseele

A unique heart. It is cut out in the shape of a harlequin's chest.

Herzschrittmacher

Herzschrittmacher

One of my favorite heart motifs. The clown in the background was created from the shadow cast by a glass figure.

Here, a picture from the Spiel-Art series was digitally snipped.

The lace heart is of course ambiguous and is just as suitable as a greeting card for whispering love as it is for wishes for recovery.

Wiesn'n Herz

Wiesn'n Herz

The template for this was the Oktoberfest competition picture "Fröhlich dreht es sich im Kreise". I got an audience award for this.

Both the heart and the target are taken from the painting "Prachtsstück".
